@Ata
I agree with your comment: 'It's just fmo...'

Glückwünsche nach Nottingham (bei der Premiere!) und Barrow, die die englische Fahne jetzt zu zweit hochhalten!

Was soll ich sagen?

I know you did not say 'gifted', I was referring to FMO gifting results to clubs via lousy match calculations & punishing stronger clubs.

If you include this season then Bristol would have appeared in just 2 finals out of the last 10, winning it only once. The 05/25 season would now be 11 seasons ago.

Having a consistent team strength over that time of 1060-1074. That would put Bristol comfortably in/around the top 3 clubs in Europe during that time period, with this context then Bristol's CL record has been disgraceful.

I have failed to qualify from the group stages & Plays Offs more times than my team has come anywhere near to fulfilling its potential,

Let's now compare that to real life.

The last time a top 3 team failed to qualify for the CL Last 16:
Real Madrid.... 1962
Barcelona.... 2003
Bayern Munich.... 2011

The comparison tells you all you need to know and justifies my position entirely. There is no ROI for being stronger than your opposition in Europe for affected clubs.

Regarding Leicester. Their individual quality in 2016 was absolutely top 5, it was top 1 in fact.

The title winning team had amazing players that went onto clubs like Chelsea and Man City. Kante and Mahrez didn't become world class players when they took their Leicester shirts off and put their Man City/Chelsea shirts on.

Arsenal wanted to buy Vardy for big money (who in prime was world class) but he turned them down. Schemeical was fantastic in goal.

Leicester had the best team in England that season and proved it by winning the title. It was people's perception of Leicester that was wrong.

And this is the point.  If the Leicester team of '2016 was converted into an FMO team, they would have been 1060+.  They won because they were better.

Btw, I did NOT say that Leicester were "gifted" the title but that everything came together for them.
Although their individual quality did not even put them in top 5, they played out of their skins, had a bit of luck and ultimately used the momentum.
It was a dream season...

@Ata @Ingo
Thanks for your comments.

The reason why Leicester won the Premier League in 2016 was because they were the best team in the league, and living in England I remember their title winning season very well.  It wasn't a case of Leicester being gifted the title by an unseen force behind the scenes manipulating the outcome.

The fact remains that the Continental Cup competitions are not worth taking seriously and the message boards are bearing that out. Its not just me, others have also mentioned it too.

At some point the developer has to stand back and review the quality of the match calculations in continental cup competitions on a whole and ask himself honestly.

'Are the current match results being generated an acceptable product for paying customers who have spend untold hours building their squads? Are they fair? Are my customers happy with them?'

Currently the answer to those questions, whether they choose to accept it or not, is:
'No, they are absolutely not acceptable or fair. They are beyond awful. Customers are not happy'

The core aim of any football management game is to produce a game engine to generate realistic, consistent and fair match results equally to all of its customers.

If that is currently not being achieved then an immediate examination should be made to ensure no bugs have crept into the game engine, and to check that any configuration connected to Continental cup competitions is set appropriately to provide a fair system that incentivises and rewards managers who field the strongest team.

That is a fair and reasonable expectation.

I don't mind if the developers silently fix the problem and don't announce it.  My only concern is that the issue gets fixed, that is the only update I want.

I totally understand your disappointment, Phi - a team like yours should alway go far due to its superior strength and, of course, being eliminated in the relatively early rounds of the CL does particularly hurt. Especially if it happens several times on the trot.

I can't go into detail here but I am convinced that FMO has a feature that assigns teams a "sh*tty" season just like in real life where teams have seasons with everything going against them (injuries, suspensions, missed chances...) or seasons when everything falls into place (e.g. Leicester's Premier League title). But why does it happen so oftn to some teams and hardly ever to others?

A personal remark: On a considerably lower level, all my team's dropped points (10x) except for two matches came against weaker (less ST) opposition...

Looking at your last CL seasons, it is really strange and frustrating, how the calculations go. I would like to give an explanation, but I can´t. Especially, as your team is always at least Top-5 in Europe, when we just look at the strength. Barrow also had periods, where it was not running as planned and I was ultra frustrated and it almost made me quit. But to my surprise the next seasons went in the other direction again.

Anyhow, I don´t think that I can cheer you up and also don´t think that you want this. I just hope that you can overcome this bad streak and will be back to the normal Bristol performance. Finally, I still think that having a superb team will finally pay off. Wishing you all the best.
