@Raffael
I agree with you that there needs to be variation, and that it keeps things interesting. I've had times when I've had a 4-5 league position swing downwards like yourself, and I agree that no one has the divine right to success. You're preaching to the converted there.
It becomes a little more bewildering however when, last season I was statistically the strongest team in the CL group stage fielding 1069/1070 each match and then finished 26th! That is a not 4-5 position down-turn, but a huge 26 league position down-turn!
This season I've fielded a team in the mid 1060's (so probably a top 3 CL group team) and underperformed by another huge 23+ positions. My English Cup exit hasn't helped either, its just more extreme bad luck stacked on top of more extreme bad luck.
These aren't just fluctuations, they're enormous fluctuations repeated over two seasons with exactly the same pattern of results! So I think it's understandable that I would comment on it, as I would expect anyone to, because it's so bizarre.
I've come to terms with it, I just thought it was noteworthy that the results precisely the same, it's like a glitch in the Matrix. Hopefully its not a bug that was introduced with the CL format changes.
I know I haven't let England down. I've tried my best to earn the points to keep us up in the country rankings. Hopefully my luck will turn next season and England can climb to a country ranking more befitting her strength.
The extreme adverse conditions is certainly a test for me, and it will affect Bristol for a number of season's to come. Storms do eventually pass, and it will make the good times taste sweeter if they come my way again.
Good luck to all English clubs in remaining in Europe. We need your points more than ever.
